The Ray Bearcats were the 47-43 winner over the San Pasqual Valley Warriors when they last played one another back in December of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. Ray received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 60-41 to San Pasqual Valley. Ray has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Ray still got an impressive performance from Malena Goad, who scored 20 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Goad scored a full 48.8% of Ray's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Barajas, who scored 6 points along with 6 assists.
It was another big night for Kyla Emerson, who scored 32 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals for San Pasqual Valley. The match was Emerson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Daeja Villicana was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Ray has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for San Pasqual Valley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Ray won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Valley Union at 5:30 p.m. on December 9th. Valley Union comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for San Pasqual Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Bagdad at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
