The Whiteland Warriors pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Franklin Community by a score of 58-55. While losing is never fun, Whiteland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Franklin Community is ranked 16th).
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaskirat Banwait, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Wiatt Mclaughlin, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Micah Davis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Franklin Community, scoring 36 points along with three steals. Davis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Malakai Bravard was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Whiteland and nudges their season record down to 10-7. As for Franklin Community, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Whiteland will take on Mooresville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mooresville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday. Franklin Community won't have much time to rest: their next match is against New Palestine at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. New Palestine has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 704 points over their last ten games.
