The Deseret Peak Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Bear River Bears at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Deseret Peak has five straight victories, Bear River has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Deseret Peak came out on top against Sky View on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Bobcats. Considering the Golden Eagles have won six games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Andrew Harris was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Deseret Peak's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 5-9 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Beckham Rowley was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Vorwaller, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Deseret Peak kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Bear River faced Mountain Crest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bears fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 3-2. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Bears who fell 6-4 when the teams previously met back in March of 2025.
Like Deseret Peak, Bear River also got a great game from a two-way player: Ethan Higgs. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 5.2 innings pitched. Higgs has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.
Higgs wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chipper Hawes, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Bear River's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Deseret Peak, their record is now 7-10.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Deseret Peak has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. However, it's not like Bear River struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
