On Tuesday, St. Francis was the victim of a tough 53-32 defeat at the hands of Benet Academy. St. Francis has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why St. Francis lost, one person who can't be blamed is Riley Austin. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with three blocks. Austin scored a full 43.8% of St. Francis' points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Lynsey Cleveland was another key contributor, scoring four points along with three steals.
St. Francis struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
St. Francis' defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Benet Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing York the next time they take the court. St. Francis will head out to face York at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, while Benet Academy will host them at 4:45 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
