The Harrison Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Coronado. If Harrison was looking for revenge after losing 49-47 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Despite the loss, Harrison had strong showings from Jeilo Hamenyimana, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and six steals, and Kenneth Jones jr, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Jones jr hasn't dropped below 16 points for four straight games.
Coronado got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Realiti Smith out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lyrik Smith, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Harrison's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Coronado, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harrison will take on the Scorpions at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Sand Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Wednesday. As for Coronado, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Canon City is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
