The Concord Christian Academy Minutemen the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Faith Baptist School Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Concord Christian Academy slipped by Fairwinds Christian 46-45.
Concord Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Carlin Hollis - Homeschool, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hollis - Homeschool has scored at least a third of Concord Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Keavon Bailey - Homeschool, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Faith Baptist School had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 61-49 win over Greenwood Mennonite. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, as Faith Baptist School did.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Faith Baptist School to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eli Miller, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Miller pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Israel Cousins, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Concord Christian Academy pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Faith Baptist School, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Friday's game is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Concord Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Faith Baptist School struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Concord Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Faith Baptist School when the teams last played back in January of 2023, sneaking past 59-57. Will Concord Christian Academy repeat their success, or does Faith Baptist School have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
