Two dominant players in Addison Wiemann and Emilee Resendez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Sunrise Mountain Mustangs and the Paradise Valley Trojans will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Sunrise Mountain will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
Sunrise Mountain suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 64-37 loss at the hands of Kellis. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sunrise Mountain has scored all season.
Paradise Valley proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 27) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 30-28 victory over Willow Canyon. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Paradise Valley has posted yet this season.
Paradise Valley can attribute much of their success to Neha Patel, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Resendez, who scored seven points along with 15 rebounds and three blocks. Resendez hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games.
Sunrise Mountain's defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 15-4. As for Paradise Valley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.
Sunrise Mountain strolled past Paradise Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 67-49. Does Sunrise Mountain have another victory up their sleeve, or will Paradise Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
