St. Pius X Catholic (Atlanta, Ga.) snapped the 11-game winning streak of
Cartersville (Ga.), with a 31-19 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown in the second quarter, the Golden Lions were up 10-6 at the half.
St. Pius X Catholic expanded its lead to 11 points entering the fourth quarter. SPXC scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by
Jack Pelt.
The Hurricanes came in allowing just 10.2 points per game this season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Cartersville, which notched a 28-26 victory over West Hall in its previous outing. The win brought St. Pius X Catholic's winning streak to three games.
CHS (11-1) will play a playoff game against St. Pius X Catholic next week. The Golden Lions go into the week with a record of 8-3.
