Birdville's win came from a few key players Ryan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zach Wells, who threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 35 yards and one score. His passing game has become a key predictor of Birdville's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-4 otherwise. 90 of Wells' passing yards were hauled in by Jake Subjeck, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
One reason for the win was Birdville's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Hunter Grant, Cooper Howard, and Graham Hightower, who each picked up one sack apiece. Jacob Martinez was another major factor on D, making 14 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and snagged an interception.
Ryan's record now sits at 8-1. As for Birdville, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
