The Calhoun Yellow Jackets will face off against the LaFayette Ramblers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Calhoun has five straight wins, LaFayette has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Calhoun's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 35-0 victory over Heritage. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won six contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

Calhoun can attribute much of their success to Hudson Chadwick, who gained 128 total yards and three touchdowns, and Justin Beasley, who gained 127 total yards and two touchdowns. Beasley is also crushing it when it comes to receiving yards: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Calhoun proved: they limited Heritage to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Blake Hammett for the heroic effort on defense: he. Calhoun didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.4.
Calhoun didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kenneth Hudson and Jaxon Moore.
Meanwhile, LaFayette played a tough game last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Heritage and fell 38-10. The Ramblers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-3.
Calhoun's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for LaFayette, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Thursday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Calhoun has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 199.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like LaFayette struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 174.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Calhoun strolled past LaFayette when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a score of 38-24. Will the Yellow Jackets repeat their success, or do the Ramblers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
