Despite the loss, Veterans had strong showings from Jaivyon Dawson, who went 6 of 7 to rack up 15 points, and Tristen Abner, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds. Abner has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 11 times he's played. Aiden Sweenor was another key player, putting up 15 points.
Meanwhile, Thomas County Central was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 62-56 to Northside.
Veterans will need to focus on slowing down Colby Mullinax, one of several Thomas County Central players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Mullinax a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Quincy Anderson, who posted 11 points and three steals.
