Pine Forest had lost nine straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-19 to make it ten. They came up short against the Overhills Jaguars, falling 15-8. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 25, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Owen Demus and Ryan Temple did some serious damage despite the final result: Demus got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, while Temple got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaydyn Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
As for Overhills, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-13. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Overhills' side, T Copper made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Copper was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on X Rios, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Overhills: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was A Frink, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
While Pine Forest had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
