Two dominant players in Max Roselle and Caedon Meyer are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Timnath Cubs will head out on the road to face off against the Loveland Classical Lions at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, Timnath strolled past Frontier Academy with points to spare, taking the game 65-47. With that victory, Timnath brought their scoring average up to 51.2 points per game.
Timnath's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luke Jacobson, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andrew Hamlin, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Loveland Classical stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Nederland 69-21 at home. Given Loveland Classical's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Nederland is ranked 326th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meyer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 11 points along with eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Larrew, who scored 13 points.
Timnath's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Loveland Classical, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Timnath have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33.9 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Loveland Classical, though, as they've been averaging only 27.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Timnath was able to grind out a solid victory over Loveland Classical in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 67-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Timnath since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
