Softball Recap: Frankfort Sets Scoring Season-High Against Goreville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Frankfort). Everything went their way against the Goreville Blackcats on Monday as Frankfort made off with an 18-12 win. This was payback for the Redbirds, who suffered an 8-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Makayla Joyner was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reese James, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Joyner wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Frankfort kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Frankfort pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Goreville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Frankfort will be playing in front of their home fans against Zeigler-Royalton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Goreville, they will face off against Anna-Jonesboro at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
