The Cyprus Pirates are taking a road trip to square off against the West Jordan Jaguars at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Cyprus put up the most runs they have all season on Friday. Everything went their way against Hunter as they made off with a 19-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won nine games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Dj Oveson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Oveson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cody Densley, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Brady Dean also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Cyprus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, West Jordan won against Taylorsville on Wednesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Jaguars walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Warriors. The win continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.
Like Cyprus, West Jordan also got a great game from a two-way player: Ethan Baldwin. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Baldwin was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
In other pitching news, Christian Flint looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Brendan Wood was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cody Johnson, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Cyprus pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for West Jordan, their record now sits at 10-2.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cyprus has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .500. However, it's not like West Jordan struggles in that department as they've averaged .481. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cyprus came out on top in a nail-biter against West Jordan in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
