Lewiston has been on the road for four straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Johnson-Brock Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lewiston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Johnson-Brock is ranked 18th).
Last Thursday, Lewiston ended up a good deal behind Southern and lost 62-47.
Despite their loss, Lewiston saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Caleb Rule, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Jaxon Janssen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Johnson-Brock put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Diller-Odell for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-34 victory on the road. Johnson-Brock has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 23 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Johnson-Brock to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lleyton Behrends, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Behrends scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Brody Koehler, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Lewiston's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Johnson-Brock, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Lewiston have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 24 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Johnson-Brock struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 25.5 rebounds per game. Given Lewiston's sizeable advantage in that area, Johnson-Brock will need to find a way to close that gap.
Lewiston was dealt a bruising 74-15 defeat at the hands of Johnson-Brock when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lewiston was down 42-11.
