The Timpview Thunderbirds posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-43 win over Springville. Given Timpview's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Springville is ranked 76th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lina Ballin was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiaiaga Galea'i, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Timpview is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Springville, they bumped their record down to 3-11 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Maple Mountain the next time they take the court. Springville will head out to face Maple Mountain at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while Timpview will host them at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
