Independence extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping them down to 2-13. They came up short against the Northlake Christian Wolverines, falling 15-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 22-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.
As for Northlake Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games.
For Northlake Christian's part, Camille Kelly and Sam Raimondi made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Kelly pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Raimondi tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2025. At bat, Kelly went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Raimondi went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That triple was Kelly's first of the season.
In other batting news, Northlake Christian let Evie Burns and Sara Davis run wild. Burns went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Davis went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Burns has posted since March 2nd. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Fraher, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Independence will be playing at home against St. Thomas Aquinas at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Northlake Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Holden at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
