Two dominant signal callers in Tanner Boyd and Jett Goldsberry are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Gibson Southern sitting on nine straight victories and Heritage Hills on seven.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Gibson Southern walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 38-21 victory over Tri-West Hendricks on Saturday.
Gibson Southern got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Beau Rose out in front who rushed for 73 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Sean DeLong and his 110 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Gibson Southern's win.
Batesville typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday Heritage Hills proved too difficult a challenge. Heritage Hills sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 victory over Batesville.
Goldsberry was his usual excellent self, rushing for 157 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also throwing for 84 yards and a touchdown. Goldsberry's longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards.
Gibson Southern pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.8 points per game. As for Heritage Hills, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.
Gibson Southern came out on top in a nail-biter against Heritage Hills in their previous meeting back in September, sneaking past 31-28. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Heritage Hills' Goldsberry, who rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns.
