American Christian School will take on Varsity Opponent at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (American Christian School has six straight wins, Varsity Opponent has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
American Christian School won the last time they faced Calvary Academy and Holly Cilento did her part to make sure it happened again. American Christian School came out on top against Calvary Academy by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday thanks in part to Cilento, who had ten digs, six kills, two aces, and one block. She has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last five times she's played.
American Christian School never let Calvary Academy on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-23.

American Christian School's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Layla Fernandez, who had five digs and two aces. Those five digs gave Fernandez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rachel Ramirez, who had three aces and two blocks.
They weren't the only good servers: American Christian School was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Varsity Opponent didn't have quite enough to beat Zeeland East on Saturday and fell 2-1.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Varsity Opponent sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 21-25, 16-14.
American Christian School's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Varsity Opponent, their defeat dropped their record down to 191-492-10.
