Everglades City will be playing at home against the Naples Classical Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Everglades City suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They suffered a rough 76-50 defeat at the hands of Donahue Catholic. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Everglades City has suffered against Donahue Catholic since January 19, 2021.
Meanwhile, Naples Classical pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 80-66 fall against Oasis. While losing is never fun, Naples Classical can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 725th, while Oasis is ranked 355th).
Despite the defeat, Naples Classical saw an underclassman step up: Daniel Coldiron scored 31 points. That was a full 47% of Naples Classical's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Colman Gillen, who scored 12 points.
Everglades City's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-5. As for Naples Classical, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-11.
Everglades City didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Naples Classical in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 63-59 win.
