The Pittsburg Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the New Diana Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pittsburg has 13 straight wins, New Diana has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Pittsburg has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 21 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 59-20 win over Rivercrest on the road. Given Pittsburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while Rivercrest is ranked 1220th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, New Diana lost to Pleasant Grove on the road by a decisive 42-25 margin on Tuesday.
Starrmia Dixon was New Diana's leading scorer, having posted eight points.
Pittsburg's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for New Diana, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Pittsburg against New Diana in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 88-34 win. With Pittsburg ahead 34-11 at the half, the game was all but over already.
