There's no place like home for the Pine Forest Trojans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past Western Harnett with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 64-46. Given Pine Forest's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Eagles are ranked 621st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pine Forest had a senior duo take command as Nehemiah Mcdonald scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals and Dwayne Johnson scored 12 points along with two steals. Mcdonald is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Tristan Lyons was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Western Harnett's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Don Thomas, who scored 15 points, and AJ Manning who scored five points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gabe Casteel, who scored five points.
Pine Forest has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Western Harnett, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-18.
Pine Forest will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Terry Sanford has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 311 points over their last five contests. As for Western Harnett, they will be playing at home against the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
