Wayne is on a nine-game streak of home wins, while Boys Town is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Wayne put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Monday. They put the hurt on Crofton with a sharp 57-37 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-11.
Drue Davis was a one-man wrecking crew for Wayne as he scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colson Nelsen, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Boys Town didn't have too much trouble with Milford at home on Saturday as they won 67-48. Given Boys Town's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Milford is ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Boys Town, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Wayne suffered a grim 62-39 defeat to Boys Town in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Wayne, Malachi Washington (who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
