The Flinthills Mustangs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against Udall by a score of 59-48. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Flinthills also won the last time the pair played last Friday.
Flinthills got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jake Hunter out in front who scored 25 points along with six steals. Hunter has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. Shane Steinhauer was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Udall lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jenson Harness, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Johnson, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Udall smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The victory got Flinthills back to even at 6-6. As for Udall, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flinthills is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Udall, they will challenge the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Haven is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
