Baseball Recap: Church Point Extends Winning Streak to Three

Church Point took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Mamou, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Church Point Bears came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mamou Demons on Thursday, sneaking past 4-2. For the Bears, this counts as revenge for the 11-5 win the Demons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Kohlden Dohmann was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Waylon Castille was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

The victory (which was Church Point's third in a row) raised their record to 13-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mamou, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-4 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Church Point will square off against Berchmans Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mamou, they will take on Opelousas at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Opelousas has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.14 runs per game on average), something Mamou will no doubt try to take advantage of.
