Pearl has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Northwest Rankin Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pearl knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Northwest Rankin likes a good challenge.
Pearl pushed their score all the way to 71 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of Meridian. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pearl in their matchups with Meridian: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Northwest Rankin was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 47-41 to Brandon. Northwest Rankin has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Pearl's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8. As for Northwest Rankin, they dropped their record down to 7-16 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Pearl didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Northwest Rankin when the teams last played on January 9th, but they still walked away with a 55-51 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pearl since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
