The Penns Manor Comets will venture away from home to take on the Purchase Line Red Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Penns Manor has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 1.
Penns Manor's last matchup with River Valley could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. The Comets lost 10-3 to the Panthers.
Connor James was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI were his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Purchase Line hadn't done well against Marion Center recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Red Dragons came out on top against the Stingers by a score of 10-7. Ten seems to be a good number for the Red Dragons as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Devlan Kordish made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Purchase Line: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 3-9 otherwise. Kordish was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Stein, who earned four RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Christian Moyer was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
The victory made it two in a row for Purchase Line and bumps their season record up to 5-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Penns Manor, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
Penns Manor couldn't quite get it done against Purchase Line when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
