Basketball Recap: Mattie Maxey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Community over Eagleville

Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eagleville Eagles. The Vikings/Viqueens were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 61-56.

Community lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Mattie Maxey, who went 5 for 6 on her way to 13 points. Maxey has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Alyssa White was another key player, going 5 for 7 on her way to 11 points and five rebounds.

Community now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Eagleville, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Community will look to defend their home court on Friday against Huntland at 6:00 p.m. As for Eagleville, they will head out to challenge Richland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
