The Combs Coyotes will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Shadow Mountain Matadors at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Combs' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Last Thursday, Combs earned a 63-50 win over Coronado. Given Combs' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Coronado is ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Logan Tuckfield, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 4 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Combs' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamren Dubose, who scored 15 points along with 5 assists.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Shadow Mountain, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They fell 58-51 to Paradise Valley on Thursday. Shadow Mountain has not had much luck with Paradise Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite their defeat, Shadow Mountain saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Pierce Rogers, who scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Tate Newport was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
Combs' victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Shadow Mountain, they have yet to win a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 0-5 record.
