Hoosier Hills recap October 1, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Hoosier Hills this week, Columbus East beat Floyd Central 76-30. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Jennings County moved up to 162 from 200 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers climbed the ranks as a result of besting Bedford North Lawrence 35-6.
Jennings County's dynamic duo of Conner Byram and Nick Nixon proved tough for the Stars to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Byram threw for 94 yards and Nixon had 65 yards receiving. Keegan Beineke helped Jennings County's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 29 yards.
Markell Jones provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Columbus East defeated the Highlanders.
Jones was a beast in the backfield as Bob Gaddis' team beat Floyd Central.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Brian Glesing's team's Colton Kimm and Austin Carl have proven to be a lethal combination. Kimm has thrown for 912 yards this season, while Carl, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 15 catches for 269 yards. Tuwan Payton from New Albany leads the league in rushing with 1,595 yards.
At the moment, the Bulldogs are in second, while Jeffersonville is in third.
New Albany was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in Hoosier Hills. Charlie Fields' team vanquished Madison 35-7 earlier in the week.
