Even though the Battlefield Bobcats have not done well against the Patriot Pioneers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Battlefield had just enough and edged Patriot out 39-37. This was payback for Battlefield, who suffered a 55-28 loss the last time these two teams met.
Despite the loss, Patriot still got an impressive performance from Ella Negron, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Negron scored a full 56.8% of Patriot's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Honkus, who scored four points along with five steals.
Battlefield has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Patriot, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
Battlefield will head out on the road to face off against Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Freedom will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Patriot will take on Unity Reed at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Unity Reed comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
