After both having extra time off, the Grandview Wolves and the Eaglecrest Raptors will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Grandview is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Cherry Creek just ended the team's three-match winning streak last Thursday. They came up short against the Bruins, falling 3-0.
While Grandview was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-17, 25-22.
Ruby Igel put forth a good effort for the losing side as she had 11 digs and one assist.
Arapahoe came into Thursday's contest looking for another win against Eaglecrest, but Ella Mack wouldn't allow it. The Raptors walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Warriors last Thursday thanks in part to Mack, who had nine digs and three aces. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.
The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-21, 17-25, 25-16.
Eaglecrest has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Grandview, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Grandview has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Eaglecrest struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Grandview couldn't quite get it done against Eaglecrest when the teams last played back in September as they fell 3-1. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
