Soccer Game Preview: South Mecklenburg vs. Palisades

South Mecklenburg is a perfect 4-0 against Palisades since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The South Mecklenburg Sabres will challenge the Palisades Pumas at 7:00 p.m. South Mecklenburg will be strutting in after a victory while Palisades will be coming in after a loss.

South Mecklenburg will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Saturday, then bounced right back against Berry on Tuesday. South Mecklenburg never let Berry get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Sabres, who have now won three games by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Berry with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Julia Grier (4), Elloree Kieffer (2), Journey Moore (2), and Michal Lutz.

Meanwhile, Palisades was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Myers Park, falling 10-0. While losing is never fun, the Pumas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 85th).

Palisades' loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for South Mecklenburg, the victory got them back to even at 3-3-1.

South Mecklenburg took their win against Palisades when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0. Will South Mecklenburg repeat their success, or does Palisades have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
