Martinsville is on a 15-game streak of home losses, Dugger Union a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Martinsville Bluestreaks will take on the Dugger Union Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Martinsville suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Monday. They took a serious blow against Shelbyville, falling 60-23. Martinsville has struggled against Shelbyville recently, as their matchup on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Dugger Union struggled with assists on Thursday (Clay City had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Dugger Union's tough 50-29 defeat to Clay City might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Dugger Union can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 696th, while Clay City is ranked 337th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Brae Simpson, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Smith, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Martinsville's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Dugger Union, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season.
Martinsville came out on top in a nail-biter against Dugger Union in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 39-37. Will Martinsville repeat their success, or does Dugger Union have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
