Basketball Recap: Basha Takes a Loss

Basha lost against Hamilton back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The matchup between the Basha Bears and the Hamilton Huskies didn't end well, with the Basha Bears falling 65-51. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Basha saw an underclassman step up: freshman Amira Reynolds posted eight points and 16 boards. The dominant performance gave Reynolds a new career-high in rebounds. Claire Mcmahon was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Basha smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Hamilton was led to victory by Sage Henry and Taylor Sipfle. Henry went 7 of 17 on her way to 20 points and seven rebounds, while Sipfle dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. Henry's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Romero, who had seven points.

Basha's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Hamilton, their record now sits at 14-10.

Basha wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-55 win against Chandler on the 6th. As for Hamilton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-53 loss against Perry on the 7th.
