San Juan hasn't had much luck against South Sevier recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Broncos will square off against the Rams at 11:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
San Juan is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Duchesne as they made off with a 12-5 victory. The win continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.
Corbin Middlton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jaiten Knight was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nache Young, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, South Sevier got themselves on the board against Parowan on Tuesday, but Parowan never followed suit. They put the hurt on Parowan with a sharp 15-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for South Sevier considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Like San Juan, South Sevier also got a great game from a two-way player: Bigs Northrup. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Northrup was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Ingram, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Kanyon Okerlund was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.
South Sevier was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parowan only posted a batting average of .077.
South Sevier has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for San Juan, their record is now 21-5.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. San Juan has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .492. However, it's not like South Sevier struggles in that department as they've averaged .486. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
San Juan might still be hurting after the 16-10 defeat they got from South Sevier when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Broncos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
