Goldsboro extended the longest winning streak in 1A Carolina this week by beating Princeton, 56-16. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Goldsboro's Julius Murphy and Joseph Baker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Murphy has thrown for 1234 yards this season, while Baker, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 31 catches for 383 yards. Tyler Royal from North Duplin leads the league in rushing with 1446 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Ayden-Grifton takes on the Bulldogs. The Chargers are in second place, while Princeton is in fifth place.
Ayden-Grifton made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,391 from 6,046. The improvement was the result of 33-14 victory over the Rebels last week.
