Caliche is 2-8 against the Fightin' Bulldogs since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Caliche Buffaloes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Hopefully Caliche focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
Caliche scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 68-30 victory over Peetz. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Caliche has managed all season.
Caliche can attribute much of their success to Ava Hernandez, who scored 25 points along with three steals, and Karsyn Huss, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists. It was the first time this season that Huss posted eight or more assists. Hallie Lewis was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Haxtun lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 58-33 walloping at the hands of Briggsdale. Haxtun has not had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Caliche's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5. As for Haxtun, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-13.
Caliche didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Fightin' Bulldogs in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 41-35 win. Will Caliche repeat their success, or do the Fightin' Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
