After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three games, the River Valley Dust Devils finally came back down to earth on Wednesday. They were dealt a 77-25 defeat at the hands of Yuma Catholic. River Valley has not had much luck with Yuma Catholic recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
River Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nash Hanrahan, who scored 12 points. Jacob Boice was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
River Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Yuma Catholic, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Valley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against American Leadership Academy - West Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. American Leadership Academy - West Foothills is on a three-game streak of home losses, River Valley a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Yuma Catholic on the road again on Saturday and play against Tonopah Valley at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Tonopah Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Yuma Catholic is ranked 99th).
