Baseball Recap: Lane Tech Wins Going Away Against Jones

Lane Tech lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Jones, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Champions were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Eagles on Tuesday. For the Champions, this counts as revenge for the 5-3 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Lane Tech got a great performance from Dodger Friedrich as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Friedrich has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Lane Tech let Alex Ziegler and Tyler Trapp run wild. Ziegler went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Trapp got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one triple. Trapp is becoming a predictor of Lane Tech's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Miles Mazanowski also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Lane Tech's record is now 3-5. As for Jones, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-3.

Lane Tech didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Glenbrook North on the 3rd. As for Jones, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-4 win against Westmont on the 3rd.
