The Camelback Spartans and the Maryvale Panthers will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Camelback suffered their biggest defeat since November 21, 2023 on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 59-21 loss at the hands of North. Camelback has not had much luck with North recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the loss, Camelback had strong showings from Emerance Hogoza, who scored six points along with six steals, and Jada Rosado, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Maryvale's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 39-31 to Carl Hayden Community.
Camelback bumped their record down to 3-12 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.2 points per game. As for Maryvale, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-13.
Camelback strolled past Maryvale when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 59-44. Will Camelback repeat their success, or does Maryvale have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
