Whiteoak hasn't had much luck against Lynchburg-Clay recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wildcats will challenge the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Whiteoak put up the most runs they have all season on Wednesday. They came out on top against Symmes Valley by a score of 10-5. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, while Lynchburg-Clay put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Peebles. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 14-0 win. Considering the Mustangs have won nine matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Quin Wells made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with six RBI and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lynchburg-Clay got a massive performance out of Elam Faust, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Faust is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Wells, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one double.
Lynchburg-Clay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive games.
Lynchburg-Clay's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Whiteoak, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Whiteoak couldn't quite finish off Lynchburg-Clay in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
