The Franklin Central Flashes won against the Avon Orioles last Saturday with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Franklin Central walked away with a 57-47 victory over Avon. The win was familiar territory for Franklin Central who now have six in a row.
Payton Duvall continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lily Graves, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds.
Avon's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aniah Smith, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Makaylee Butts who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. Smith hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Wren, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Avon struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Franklin Central pushed their record up to 9-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Avon, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin Central won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Greenfield-Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Greenfield-Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Avon, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Upper Arlington at 3:00 p.m. Upper Arlington presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Avon in their respective states (Upper Arlington is ranked 24th in Ohio, while Avon is ranked 96th in Indiana).
