The Okawville Rockets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 26 points or more this season. They took their game on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 67-26 win over Sparta. Winning may never get old, but Okawville sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Alayna Kraus continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with six steals. The matchup was her ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisyn Wienstroer, who scored 12 points.
Despite the loss, Sparta still got an impressive performance from Kenzie Pierce, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Pierce scored a full 42.3% of Sparta's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Maddie Schulein, who scored eight points.
Okawville pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Sparta, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Okawville will face off against Wesclin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Sparta, they will head out on the road to face off against Steeleville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Steeleville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
