DeSoto Central extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday, bumping them up to 7-2. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Southaven Chargers, sneaking past 54-52. For the Jaguars, this counts as revenge for the 70-52 victory the Chargers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.

DeSoto Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hunter Avant, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 16 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Cameron Smith, who went 5-for-6 on his way to 12 points.

DeSoto Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

As for Southaven, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly two points.

Southaven lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jayden Harris, who shot 56% from the field en route to 14 points. Jodari Morgan was another key player, putting up 11 points and six rebounds.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DeSoto Central will face off against Olive Branch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Southaven, they will challenge Lafayette at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
