Baseball Recap: Southwestern Heights Wins Going Away Against Sublette

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Southwestern Heights and Sublette meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. Southwestern Heights blew past Sublette 25-0. That 25 run margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

Julius Trejo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Parker Leak, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Stanfield, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Southwestern Heights hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.

Southwestern Heights' victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Sublette, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Southwestern Heights is taking a road trip to square off against Cimarron at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sublette, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Elkhart at 4:00 p.m.
