Cherry Creek is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Arapahoe is on a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Cherry Creek Bruins will take on the Arapahoe Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Cherry Creek faced Eaglecrest in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cherry Creek didn't even let Eaglecrest onto the board and left with a 21-0 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Cherry Creek just coasted through the last quarter.
Jordan Herron was his usual excellent self, rushing for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Jayden Fox and his 85 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Cherry Creek's victory.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Arapahoe on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Cherokee Trail out of the water with a 56-7 final score. With Arapahoe ahead 28-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Arapahoe can attribute much of their success to Jayden Tackitt, who rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and Trajan Frasier, who rushed for 100 yards and five touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Cherry Creek to 8-0 and Arapahoe to 7-1.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as both teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Cherry Creek commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.9 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Arapahoe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Everything came up roses for Cherry Creek against Arapahoe in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 42-7 win. Will Cherry Creek repeat their success, or does Arapahoe have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
