Baseball Game Preview: Northview Knights vs. Cloverdale Clovers

Northview has gone a perfect 3-0 against Cloverdale recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Knights will challenge the Clovers at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Northview couldn't beat Owen Valley on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Knights fell 10-6 to the Patriots.

Quinn Lewis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Zac Buell also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Cloverdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Greencastle, falling 9-2.

Cloverdale saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Corey Branigan, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Northview has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Cloverdale, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Northview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cloverdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Northview came out on top in a nail-biter against Cloverdale when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
