Wilsonville was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after losing to Sherwood. The Wildcats came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 34 last week.
The Bowmen extended the longest winning streak in 5A Northwest Oregon this week by beating Wilsonville, 35-14. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
St. Helens's dynamic duo of Gage Bumgardner and Tanner Long proved tough for Putnam to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bumgardner threw for 82 yards and one touchdown and Long had 82 yards receiving.
Tanner Shipley was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 174 yards as Adam Guenther's team fell to the Kingsmen. Ryan Walsh also contributed to the rushing game with 51 yards on the ground.
St. Helens' Bumgardner and Long have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Bumgardner has thrown for 689 yards this season, while Long, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 24 catches for 368 yards. Shipley from the Wildcats leads the league in rushing with 1086 yards.
A big matchup in 5A Northwest Oregon this week will be when Greg Lawrence's team takes on Sandy. At the moment, the Bowmen are in first, while the Pioneers are in fifth.
Sandy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. Earlier in the week, Greg Barton's team triumphed over Liberty 20-14.
